About Us
Our Mission
At Tanning Time Calculator, our mission is to help people enjoy the sun safely. We believe that spending time outdoors and getting natural vitamin D is beneficial, but it should be done responsibly to avoid harmful effects like sunburns and long-term skin damage.
We've created a tool that empowers you with personalized recommendations based on scientific understanding of how different skin types react to sun exposure. Our goal is to reduce sunburn incidents while still allowing you to enjoy the benefits of moderate sun exposure.
Why We Created This Tool
The idea for the Tanning Time Calculator came from our own experiences. We noticed that generic sun safety advice doesn't account for individual differences in skin sensitivity, geographic location, or seasonal variations in UV intensity.
After seeing friends and family members suffer from painful sunburns despite trying to be careful, we realized there was a need for a more personalized approach to sun safety guidance.
Our calculator was developed in consultation with dermatological research and UV exposure guidelines to create a tool that provides tailored recommendations for each person's unique situation.
How It Works
Skin Type Analysis
We use the Fitzpatrick Scale to understand how your skin reacts to sun exposure.
Location-Based
Your geographic location helps us determine the UV intensity you'll experience.
SPF Protection
We factor in your sunscreen's SPF level to calculate safe exposure times.
"Our calculator combines these factors with scientific models of UV exposure to provide personalized recommendations that balance safety with your tanning goals."
Our Commitment
We're committed to providing accurate, science-based information to help you make informed decisions about sun exposure. Our calculator is regularly updated with the latest research and recommendations from dermatological experts.
While we strive for accuracy, we always recommend using our calculator as a guide rather than absolute advice. Everyone's skin is unique, and factors like medications, existing skin conditions, and other individual circumstances can affect sun sensitivity.
If you have specific skin concerns or medical conditions, we encourage you to consult with a dermatologist for personalized medical advice.
